Up your Glamp Style
camping with Some of the Luxuries
For those among us who appreciate a bit of luxury, Glamping is the fun way to camp. When you’re glamping, there should be plenty of time for actually just relaxing. You’re not spending most of this precious holiday time on arranging/rearranging and searching for that flashlight you thought you’d packed.
You plug in the electric coffee pot and “presto” there’s a steaming hot cuppa’ in your hands within minutes. So much simpler than scrambling into a damp morning to start a fire (with dew-covered wood) to heat water for that coffee.
I enjoy the pleasure of a cozy campfire in the evening, but its more for the ambience, than for its necessity to cook supper. After an afternoon of hot sun at the beach, I don’t feel much like skulking around in search of kindling, or getting more sweaty chopping firewood. Campfire solution for those times when there’s just me, or a close friend, is to use fireplace logs.
Nights are cozy with a real full-size down duvet, and fluffy feather pillow. I cover the whole floor of my simple-but-spacious tent with a huge polar-fleece blanket, and some throw rugs, for added luxury.
These are just some of the small luxuries, comforts and convenience of the new “Glamp” scene.
For many Glampers, RVs and camping trailers are the answer. Bulky RVs and trailing campers are not my style…at least not anymore. They are, of course, convenient; especially when you have the kids/bad weather combinations. For the most part though, its too much like bringing the housework and daily chores along. Also, I’m happiest on the highway when I have lots of visibility and there is not a cumbersome trailer behind me to feel responsible for. For me – that’s freedom!
However you travel, and whatever your sleeping accommodations; there is a world of wonderful adventure in Glamping.
